The production of highly integrated electronic circuits is a complex mass-production process consisting of many individual steps which can have an effect on yield. Due to the numbers of circuits produced and the complex testing procedures, 100% quality control is not usually possible, even after critical manufacturing steps.

Liquid hydrogen for Europe - the Linde plant at Ingolstadt
The increasing demand for hydrogen of the highest purity degree for (the semi-conductor) industry as well as the use of hydrogen as a clean source of energy induced Linde in 1992 to design and build the first hydrogen liquefaction plant to industrial standard in Germany.
