Handling and Storage |
In order to keep the rate of sublimation at the lowest level, dry ice is supplied in specially designed highly insulated boxes / containers, made from either polyethylene, glass-fiber or polypropylene (styropor).
- Always keep the lid of the container closed when you are not using the ice
- Never store ice in airtight containers or compartments
- Always make sure the storage facilities have adequate high- and low-level ventilation so that a person can enter the room without risk of suffocation
- Monitoring or warning equipment is strongly recommended
- Use special cold-resistant gloves when handling dry ice
- Do not transport dry ice in the driver or passenger department of a truck or car
- Make sure that there is sufficient ventilation before entering the load compartment of a vehicle
- The use of dry ice in vehicles where the driver’s compartment is isolated from the dry ice or load compartment is preferable
- It should be possible to open doors of transport vehicles from the inside
- Always carry a CO2 dry ice data sheet in the vehicle when transporting dry ice
