Aquaculture R&D Center |
The center is located at the west coast of Norway close to the city of Aalesund. Established in the buildings of a former salmon hatchery, it was rebuilt in 2003. The center includes:
- Both freshwater and seawater facilities
- Water system based on recirculation
- Water heating system to easily control test-water temperature
- Aeration system that can reduce the oxygen saturation from 1500% to equilibrium
- Laboratory
- Demonstration models
- Transparent waterpipes
- Offices, meeting room and conference facilities
Dissolving of oxygen in water requires a technology designed to efficiently exploit the laws of nature. Design of the injection equipment is essential, since it must combine capacity and efficiency with reliability and safety of handling.
