It can be seen as a value added process which involves, among other things, the construction and building of e.g. machines, piping systems, steel bridges, pressure vessels, ships, containers, transportation systems, trucks and cars. In several fabrication steps many traditional and new cutting, welding and coating processes are used today. Today Laser Cutting can be seen as a standard method in many fabrication industries.
But not only in the manufacturing stage, also in the after sales market several repair and maintenance methods are used. Some of them are crucial for low shutdown times in e.g. nuclear power plants and pulp and paper plants.
Without the modern processes we have today it would have been impossible to build e.g. super tankers in an economic way and within a reasonable time. This is only one example. In the modern processes today different types of industrial gases, e.g. welding gases plays an important role for the final result in terms of productivity and quality.
